WALKER GRAHAM - team manager

My name is Walker and I'm in the 8th grade at Long Cane Middle School. I chose Greenpower Tech because I thought it would be a cool experience to be a part of the first middle school race car team in Troup County and one of the first few in the state of Georgia. I have had a lot of experience working on cars, between my dad's truck and his jeep we are probably working on either one almost every weekend. Whether its swapping in a new axle or fixing a drive line vibration I have had a lot of experience with vehicles and hope I can use that experience on this team.

Fun Fact: I am starting center for our 8th grade football team.

AVERETT ELLISON - build team

My name is Averett Ellison and I'm in the 7th grade. I choose to be in GreenpowerUSA because I really enjoy working on things. While working on our race car I really enjoyed learning about the mechanical aspects of it and correct ways of doing certain things with the car. I've also enjoyed getting to know other members on the team.

Fun Fact: I love to go fishing, I am a full-on hillbilly, and I like to sing!

ELI WARD - Safety manager

My name is Elijah Ward, I'm in 6th grade, and I'm the safety manger and a member of the build team. I have really enjoyed GreenpowerUSA. It has been a cool experience this year going to races and modifying the race car. I've particularly enjoyed installing the new body panels, helping fix the alignment, and installing our sponsor decals. Middle school students have to go to math, ELA, Science & Social Studies, but only a select few people are chosen for the Greenpower class. I'm really glad I got chosen!

Fun Fact: I like playing and watching football.

KYSHAAD PATTERSON - assistant crew chief

My name is Kyshaad Patterson. I'm the assistant crew chief and I'm in the 7th grade. I choose to sign up for the Greenpower class because I have always loved to work with cars and I am thankful to have been chosen.

Fun Fact: I like to wrestle.

KARTER NORRIS - driver

My name is Karter Norris and I'm in 7th grade. This is my first year on the team and I'm hoping it is going to be a fun and exiting year. I am one of the drivers and I'm also on the build team. I signed up for Greenpower because I have been involved in racing activities with my dad and sisters. My favorite thing I have done this year was removing the seat and redesigning a new one for our weight reduction. I have also learned how to use some power tools that i did not know how to use.

SUMMER HORNE - Photographer/ webmaster

My name is Summer and I am in the 7th grade at Long Cane Middle School. This will be my 2nd year of green power. I wanted to join the Greenpower Tech class because I wanted to drive the car but I've learned not everyone can be a driver. I love working on the race car and seeing how it all comes together. My dad and I have worked on cars for a long time and I always enjoyed working on the cars with him. One of the things I really enjoyed was drilling holes in the frame of the car for the skid plate. I love this class and hoping to go a long way.

Fun Fact: I like sports and love to play softball!!

KALEB WHITE - Build team, driver

My name is Kaleb White and I'm in the 6th grade. This will be my first year being in the GreenpowerUSA class at Long Cane Middle School. I'm a new driver for our team this year and I'm also on the build team. The reason I wanted to be apart of this program is because I wanted to learn more about what this program does and more about cars. Greenpower has helped me with cars and tools. This class has also helped me with managing tools properly.

Fun Fact: I am on our cross country team at our school and i like to hunt and fish.

ONTARIA SCOTT - data manager

My name is Ontaria Scott, I'm in the 8th grade, and I'm the Data Manager for Cougar Strong Racing. The reason why I enjoy being in GreenpowerUSA is because it has taught me so many different things, like how to do more with Google Sheets and even power tools. I took this job because I wanted to help the team by recording data at our races in order to help us make more informed decisions.

Fun Fact: I'm a Gold Team Cheerleader at LCMS.

TRAYTON GAY - pit crew

my name is Trayton Gay. I'm in 8th grade and a member of our Pit Crew. My favorite project this year was redesigning the seat for weight reduction. I wanted to be a part of GreenpowerUSA because I thought that it would be a good experience. This program is exciting, and it was so cool to hear that the school board was allowing us to start a racing team in school.

Fun Fact: One thing most people don't know is that I am a semi-professional fisherman.

BO DYES - pit crew chief

My name is Bo Dyes i'm in 8th grade. I chose green power because I love to work on just about anything I can get my hands on. I have experience working on trucks and fourwheelers with my dad. The funnest thing I've done so far is probably is installing the rear axle brackets. I am looking forward to seeing how our car does against other teams.

Fun fact: I like to go mud-riding on the weekend...wait, scratch that...I like to go mud-riding all the time. It doesn't matter how deep the mud hole is...I'll still send it!

chloe mORRIS - driver

My name is Chloe and I am 12 years old. I'm in the 7th grade, and this is my second year on the team. Last year I was a driver for Cougar Strong Racing and worked on putting the chassis together. This year one of my main projects was writing letters to other Greenpower USA teams, inviting them to our Diverse Power Grand Prix Race on February 23, 2019 at LaGrange College.

Fun Fact: I enjoy playing softball.

ryan wEBB - BUILD TEAM

My name is Ryan and I'm in the 8th grade. I chose the Greenpower class because it sounded like an experience that might help me later on in high school. I have some experience helping my dad fix cars. The most fun thing that has happened so far was installing the rear axle. What I am looking forward to the most is designing the body panels for the outside of our F24 race car.

Fun Fact: I like constructing things out of LEGOs.

D.J. Jones - BUILD TEAM

My name is DJ Jones I wanted to be in this class because I thought it would be a fun experience. Also I wanted to be in this class because I like to travel around and many of the Greenpower races out out of town. In this class I want to learn how to build a race car. I have never worked with a car so, it would be fun to learn how to work with one.

Fun Fact: I like to play sports. The sports that I like to play most is basketball and football.

PAYDE AKINS - DRIVER

My name is Payde Akins, I am in 6th grade, and I am a driver for our team. I am 12 years old & this is my first year on our GreenpowerUSA racing team. I love our GreenpowerUSA class because it's such a good opportunity to learn about engineering and in the future that might be a field I'd like to pursue as a career. Another reason I love this class is because racing runs in my blood. What I mean by that is my family does a lot of racing and I guess that it got passed down to me.

Fun fact: I love cheer and gymnastics and singing.

Hi, my name is Cam Freeman andI am 11 years old. I am a member of the build team for our #999 race car. One of my jobs is to help install things on the car.

LANDEN GOGEL - BUILD TEAM / Pit Crew

Hi my name is Landen Gogel I am on the #999 team for Cougar Strong Racing. I'm in the 6th grade & my job on the team is being a member of our pit crew. The best thing I did this year is helping with weight reduction on our F24 race car. I wanted to join the Greenpower class because I like any thing with 4 wheels.

FUN FACT: in my spare time I go hunting, fishing, and loving every day.

JHON RANDY AKINS - DRIVER

My name is Jhon Randy Akins & I am a driver for the 999 team. I’m in seventh grade. One of my favorite things we did this year was driving our F24 race car in the Toyota Classic race in Huntsville, AL at Jemison High School. I also enjoyed working on our race car to make it faster.

Fun fact: My favorite thing to do in my free time is to bog them mud holes!

COLBY HACKLEY - DRIVER

Hi my name is Colby Hackley I am in the 8th grade. One of my favorite things to do is racing. My job on the team is driving the 999 car. I really enjoyed doing the body work and the electrical work on our race car.

Fun Fact: My favorite truck is a Ford F-250 Super Duty.

BOP TUCKER - BUILD TEAM

My name is Deo’Vion Tucker and I’m 13 years old. I am part of pit crew and our build team. I wanted to be in this class because it will expose me to various careers in which I might be interested. Before this class I knew a little bit about cars and how to use tools, but I've learned more. So far since I got in the class it has been a pleasure. I have learned how to use power tools and more. I am thankful that I had this class.

Fun Fact: If you want to have a wheelie competition on dirt bikes, four wheelers, or anything else give me a call.

ELI MCCLUNG - SAFETY MANAGER

My name is Eli McClung and I’m in the 6th grade at Long Cane Middle School. I chose Greenpower Tech because I thought it would be a cool way to learn more about cars and mechanics. I also wanted to learn how to work as a team to accomplish a goal. I’m the Safety Manager for the #999 team. My main job is to make sure that everybody is safe with the power tools we use in the classroom. The main thing I’m looking forward to this year is our race in LaGrange, Georgia on February 23, 2019 - the Diverse Power Grand Prix.

Fun fact: I like to play 8 ball pool.

JAY BRADFIELD - PIT cREW cHIEF

Hello my name is Jay Bradfield, Im 13 years old, I’m in 8th grade and I’m the pit crew chief for the 999 team. I wanted to be a part of the Greenpower team because I saw how much fun they had the first year and I knew that I had to be a part of it this year. What I’ve enjoyed most this year was going to races. I’m really looking forward to the Diverse Power Grand Prix that we are hosting in LaGrange on February 23, 2019 at LaGrange College. It will be the very first GreenpowerUSA race in the state of Georgia.

Fun Fact: What I like doing most outside of school is bass fishing and digging deep in a mudhole.

KAHLIYA MCFARLAND - BUILD TEAM

My name is Kahliya Mcfarland, I'm 12 years old and in the 6th grade. I'm the data manger for CSR. One reason I wanted to be in Greenpower was to build a car with my hands. I enjoy this class because we all work together and managed to get the car ready to race. Since I'm the data manager I record how many laps the car goes at races and the lap times.

Fun fact: I love to drive four wheelers.

CHARLES DAVIS, JR. - ASST. PIT CREW CHIEF, PUSHER

Hi my name is Charles Davis, I’m 13 in the 7th grade. My job on the team is the pusher. One thing I like about been in the Greenpower class is that you can learn how to build stuff and work with all kinds of tools. My favorite part is learning how to yours a cut out a seat on the car.

Fun Fact: I like to ride my dirt bike.

lEVI PIKE - ALTERNATE DRIVER, PIT CREW

My name is Levi Pike, i’m 14, and i’m in the 8th grade. I am in the pit crew, part of the build team, and the alternate driver. One reason I wanted to be in this class is because building and doing hands-on work is something I enjoy. This class has helped me learn important skills that i could apply to my life later on in high school and college.

KINSLEY LOCASIO - Photographer / webmaster

My name is Kinsley Locascio and I am 12 years old. This is my first year on this team I am the photographer for the team and I manage this website. I love GreenpowerUSA & I believe that it is an amazing opportunity that every student should have. It teaches you a lot of interesting things you may need in the future. It is also a great way to meet new people.

Fun Fact: I compete in beauty pageants.

The Greenpower Tech class at LCMS is taught by Mr. Graham. He has taught 8th grade Georgia History & Math at LCMS for 15 years, but in the fall of 2017 he got to create the first Greenpower Tech class & middle school racing team that is now known as Cougar Strong Racing. After a very successful first season he added a second Greenpower Tech class & team, and increased the number of students in the program to 25. His goal is to serve as an ambassador for GreenpowerUSA in Troup County and the surrounding areas to increase awareness & participation in this exciting and engaging program for middle & high school students. He looks forward to building on last year's success to achieve even greater goals for year 2 of this program at LCMS!

Mr. Graham holds a Specialist Degree in Middle Grades Education from the University of West Georgia, and is certified in Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Special Education, and Gifted Education.
