The 2022-2023 school year is the 6th year of competition for our GreenpowerUSA program at Long Cane Middle School.

Event #1 of 9 - Inspire Academy 400, Lafayette, AL
#999 Team - 1st place overall (Intermediate Modified) - Score of 99/100 - (65 laps in heat 1), (72 laps in heat 2)
#000 Team - 2nd place overall (Intermediate Modified) - Score of 96.917/100 - (66 laps in heat 2), (69 laps in heat 4)
#555 Team - 2nd place overall (Intermediate Stock) - Score of 82.031/100 - (41 laps in heat 2), (36 laps in heat 4)
NOTES: 0.4 mile track. Combined team laps logged during both race heats (349 laps) totaled 140 miles. 999 had set screws come loose on motor sprocket during heat 1 costing them about 5 minutes. 000 didn't really experience any major issues. 555 had trouble with front end alignment but after getting it adjusted correctly during heat 2 they logged the fastest lap time in the entire intermediate division. 999 logged more laps than all middle school teams, and more than 12 high school teams. Only 2 high school teams matched or beat their lap count. All 3 teams learned things that they can improve on for our next race, so it was a great day of racing & team presentations!

NOTES: 0.975 mile track. ***This event was the 30th race event for the Cougar Strong Racing program since its inception in the fall of 2017***. This was the 4th time this race has been held and in the modified division it was the 4th consecutive time that 999 has placed 1st overall and the 4th consecutive time that 000 has placed 2nd or 3rd. It was the 3rd consecutive time that 555 has placed 1st overall in the stock division. 999 logged a total of 69.225 miles, 555 logged a total of 64.35 miles, and 000 logged 63.375 miles between the two race heats. Combined team miles driven at this event: 196.95 miles.

NOTES: 0.42 mile track. In heat 1 999 tied the previous track record of 76 laps, but did it approximately 0.25 seconds faster. During heat 2 they again broke their previous track record, completing 76 laps 0.30 seconds faster than they did in heat 1. Also noteworthy is that our 555 team finished 2nd overall during the heat 1 endurance race, only beat by our 999 team. During heat 2 they repeated that feat, finishing ahead of all stock and modified cars except our 999 team. Great job 555! Total miles logged by 999 was 64 miles, total miles logged by 555 was 60.5 miles, and total miles logged by 000 was 57 miles. Combined team miles driven at this event: 181.5 miles. mid-season update...After 3 race events (of 9) so far this season...
We have had a fantastic first half of the season with great results from all 3 of our F24 teams!
999 has placed first overall at all 3 race events with overall event scores of 99, 99.665, & 100 - improving their score at every event until they got it perfect - wow! They are currently leading the national point standings for the modified division with 298.665 out of a possible 300 points. They have logged a combined total of 188.025 miles during race heats, which is amazing.
000's overall finishes have been 2nd, 3rd, & 2nd with overall event scores of 96.917, 95.498, & 96.618. They are currently sitting in the #2 spot for the modified division national points standings with 289.033 points out of a possible 300, putting them more than 66 points ahead of the third place team. They have logged a combined total of 174.375 miles during race heats.
555's overall finishes have been 2nd, 1st, & 1st with overall event scores of 82.031, 96.165, & 98.5 - improving their score at every event! They are currently leading the national points standings for the stock division with 276.696 points out of a possible 300, putting them almost 30 points ahead of the second place team. They have logged a combined total of 155.65 miles during race heats.
The cumlative overall event score total for our program is 864.394 out of a possible 900, and our combined team miles logged during race heats for just 3 events is 518.05 miles - wow!!! There's still 6 more race events left in the season and you can rest assured we'll be bringing our A-Game to every single one of them. We will see you at the finish line!

The season total for miles logged during race heats from all teams in the U.S. was 17,233.66 in 17 events throughout the season, so we are proud to claim almost 10% of those miles.
