After 6 races so far this season here are the points standings (of the top 4 teams) going into our last race of the season this weekend. There are 33 F24s in this division:

REGIONAL POINTS (best 3 races of season):
604.51 Cougar Strong Racing #999

578.09 Liberty Middle School #08
568.27 Discovery MS #305

1,084.99 Cougar Strong Racing #000
1,050.27 Liberty Middle School #08
    961.40 Whitesburg P-8 #17

The competition from the Huntsville teams has been fierce as they are strong, top-notch programs. So to say we are proud of the accomplishments of our two teams thus far would be an understatement - especially for just our second season of GreenpowerUSA and with our #999 team being a new, first-year team. We look forward to an exciting finish to the season in Chattanooga, TN this weekend at the green|spaces Chattanooga F24 race. It should be a blast!

2018 - 2019
season results

#999 Team - 1st PLACE - 2019 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS (1,331 season points)

#000 Team - 2nd PLACE (1,258 season points)
Throughout this season we traveled over 1,600 miles to attend 7 races in Alabama, Georgia, & Tennessee. We could not be more excited to announce that our brand new #999 team earned a grand total of 1,331 season points out the possible 1,540, more than any other middle school team in the entire United States - making them the 2019 National Champions in the middle school division. Additionally our #000 team earned a total of 1,258 season points, placing them 2nd in the nation for the middle school division.

Their dedication to competing at such a high level across an entire season against so many veteran, top-notch programs was remarkable. So to say we are proud of the accomplishments of our two teams would be an understatement - especially for just our second season of GreenpowerUSA and with our #999 team being a brand new, first-year team.

We’d like to thank our sponsors, team parents, & our school administration for their support. Coaching these two teams has been an honor and a privilege, and definitely one of the highlights of my 15 years at Long Cane Middle School. Congratulations to Cougar Strong Racing #999 & #000 - #1 & #2 in the Nation! -Mr. Graham 🏆🏁🔋🏎💨🐾

2019 - 2020
season results

#999 Team - 1st PLACE - 2020 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS (542.78 season points)

#000 Team - 2nd PLACE (535.01 season points)
The 2019-2020 season was the 3rd year of our program, and our 2nd full season of competition. After last year's success with the #999 winning the Intermediate National Championship and the #000 coming in 2nd Nationally, a very high bar was set for our program. Additionally our #999 team only had 5 returning team members so 2/3 of that team was brand new. Nevertheless our goal was to do our very best at every event in order to repeat our previous year's performance - and boy did they ever!

We got started with a bang and stayed in the top 2 spots throughout the entire season. The final 3 races of the season were expected to be a challenge and we were excited about it, but we were thrown an unprecedented curve ball with the COVID-19 pandemic. We were not allowed to travel out of state for the Hazel Green race in March and the final 2 races in April & May ended up being cancelled. Based on the standings at that time our #999 team was named National Champion for the Intermediate Modified division, and our #000 team finished 2nd.

In six race events the #999 team earned a grand total of 542.78 national points (sum of all points earned), 282.36 regional points (best 3 races), and logged a total of 342.62 miles during race heats. This gave them an average of traveling 28.55 miles per 90 minute race heat, and an average speed of 19.03 miles per hour.

In those same six race events our #000 team earned a grand total of 535.01 national points (sum of all points earned), 279.84 regional points (best 3 races), and logged a total of 322.67 miles during race heats. This gave them an average of traveling 26.89 miles per 90 minute race heat, and an average speed of 17.93 miles per hour.

We could not be more proud of our two teams for logging a combined total of 665.29 miles during race heats because it accounts for 25.4% of all the miles logged by all Intermediate Modified teams (2,619.88). This is not easy task and requires a well tuned & maintained race car by our build team & pit crew, and consistently good decisions by our drivers on the race track. Additionally our presentation team did a great job throughout the season of consistently producing top notch presentations that scored well.

We’d like to thank our sponsors, team parents, & our school administration for their support. Coaching these two teams has been an honor and a privilege, and definitely one of the highlights of my 16 years at Long Cane Middle School. Congratulations to Cougar Strong Racing #999 & #000 - #1 & #2 in the Nation for the second consecutive year! -Mr. Graham 🏆🏁🔋🏎💨🐾
