Today the students finished up the steering shaft & steering wheel install, and installed the drive sprocket onto the rear axle. Can't wait to get back after it tomorrow! We also have a big sponsors luncheon tomorrow...we're excited to share what we've been doing and where we want to go with this new program. We’ll wrap up the steering tomorrow & move on to the rear axle! Checkout the progress we made on the race car today! We finished up the floor pan install, bolted on the front upper & lower wishbones on each side, and installed the heim joints in the wishbones on each side. It's starting to look more like a race car... can't wait to get back at it tomorrow. The excitement & engagement of the students is so fun to watch! On Monday we will be able to rivet it to the chassis. We also had a few more items show up from Home Depot...still waiting on a few more! Come take a tour of our Cougar Strong Racing Greenpower USA Racing Lab at Long Cane Middle School! It is by no means complete, but here's what it looks like as of day 3 of the build, September 21, 2017 in our very first year of implementing the Greenpower USA program. One thing is for sure...the students are having an absolute blast, they are already learning so much, and Mr. Graham wants to teach 'Greenpower Tech' exclusively next year! ; ) 🏁 Thank you to those that have already supported our program! We hope to bring many more onboard in the coming months. 👍🏼 We got more tools in today so we organized those, assembled the chassis, & almost finished up the floor pan install. The kids had a blast today - this has to be the coolest middle school class ever! We finished up the floor pan install in the forward section of the chassis today. Unfortunately our recording device ran out of memory towards the end so we weren't able to get a pic of the finished product. But the students had a great time using the drill & learning how pop rivets can be used to fasten two pieces of material together. So much fun! The build continues tomorrow... We got started on the race car today! The students were pumped. We want to send out a big Cougar thank you to Rock Krawler & Pure Performance - if you want the best of the best suspension for your truck or jeep - they've got it...made right here in the USA. |
